Being a recent owner of a Nissan Leaf, there is one key factor that is limiting electric vehicles. It is RANGE. While the leaf has an approx range of 100 miles on full charge, Nissan recommends 80% for battery life. This is insufficient for most drivers of their only vehicle.

While mass produced long range electric cars may be years in the future, we have enjoyed our 2010 Weego Whip. We get approx 25 mile range at 37 MPH max. Electricity use is approx 3 cents per mile - batteries seem to be holding up well. While it is not the answer for all - it is great for us.

I saw a parking garage in downtown Chicago that has charging stations for electric cars. I also heard that Walgreens wants to start putting in charging stations.
